Logo Identities
To craft a smart logo identity for a client is one of the great joys of being a designer. The logo is the beacon, the visual handshake, or as the great Paul Rand said “the crown jewel of brand identity”. Here are some of my favorites I’ve worked on, and if noted, collaborated with a wonderfully talented designer to bring it to life.
IDEATION SKETCHING COLLABORATION ILLUSTRATION DESIGN
How I love logo design. To sit with a client and hear them speak about what they hope and dream of for the goals of their brand is one of my favorite parts of the process. I love the collaborative nature of taking those thoughts from the client, doing research and discovery, to then looking for that gem of a story that a logo should tell to the world. When a designer works on a logo, it feels like pure craftsmanship. I often compare it to working on the insides of a fine watch … i.e. detail, nuance, solving a problem so that the logo will then work in unison with further brand development. I have dozens of logos that I’ve worked on over the years, and I have to say, some of the best are those done in partnership with other designers, whether directing or collaborating. I have had the great pleasure in my career of working with people as talented or more talented than myself, and when we land on the solution, it’s quite the ah-ha moment. I hope you have enjoyed the above scrolling through time and place.
